Who performs Hajj Badal & Umrah Badal?

Hajj Badal, Badal Hajj, and Proxy Hajj-as well as Umrah Badal and Proxy Umrah-are performed by certified students of knowledge who have already completed their own Islamic pilgrimage. Every Hajj by proxy and Umrah by proxy is carried out in strict accordance with Hajj Badal Guidelines, ensuring all rituals are fulfilled faithfully on behalf of your loved one, whether they are ill, elderly, or have passed away.

Is ud'hiya/sacrifice/qurbani included for hajj badal?

Udhiya / Qurbani are optional for Hajj Ifraad and mandatory for Hajj Tamattu. The price for Hajj Tamattu includes cost of Qurbani.

Every Muslim is welcome; despite their age, gender, language, or country! Can I make payments via alternate methods? I don't have a credit card.

Yes, absolutely. You can send us the payment through Bank Transfer / Certified Cheques/ Western Union /Money Transfer Services, and other means. If you are in Canada or USA, you make direct deposit to our bank account or send us a certified cheque. For more details see FAQ and Contact Us.

Can I send gifts/pay extra for the person performing hajj or umrah?

Yes, absolutely. However, we are only able to process monetary gifts at the moment due to logistical reasons. Please contact us should you wish to send special gifts to the person performing ‘Hajj / ‘Umrah for your loved ones.

What is Hajj Badal?

Hajj Badal is when someone gets a compulsory Hajj performed on someone’s behalf by another person. Hajj Badal may be performed for another due to an ongoing illness for which there is no hope of a cure, or because of old age, or because the person has already passed away without completing the obligatory ‘Hajj. What is Umrah Badal?

Umrah Badal (also known as Omra Badal, Badal Omra, etc.) is a voluntary act of ‘ibaadah (worship) with immense rewards. If completed in Ramadan, reward equals that of performing Hajj with the Prophet – pbuh. Umrah Badal can be completed (as often as the heart desires) on behalf of deceased or terminally ill Muslims. Who performs it?

Umra Badal: Students of Umm Al Qura university

Hajj Ifraad: Expats living in Makkah qualified students of knowledge and graduates, from Umm Al Qurra University, Daar Al Hadeeth in Makkah, or Islamic University of Madinah.

Hajj Tamattu: Qualified students of knowledge and graduates, from Umm Al Qurra University, Daar Al Hadeeth in Makkah, or Islamic University of Madinah , Al-Azhar university, or other Islamic universities will be appointed to perform the hajj badal or umrah badal on your behalf

What are the conditions for 'Hajj Badal to be accepted?

There are conditions without which Hajj Badal might not be accepted:

‘Hajj Badal cannot be performed on behalf of a person if: a) the person is alive, healthy, and has the means to perform ‘Hajj, b) if the person is alive and does not meet the requirements of ‘Hajj (i.e. does not have financial means or sanity) c) the person completed his/her obligatory ‘hajj in their lifetime
The person appointed to perform Hajj Badal must be a sane Muslim and must have completed his/her own obligatory ‘Hajj prior.
Both the person requesting ‘Hajj Badal and the person performing ‘Hajj Badal must have pure intentions; they must do it for Allah alone and not seek any other gains from it.
While entering into Ihram, he should make intention on behalf of the person for whom he/she will perform Hajj Badal.
Hajj Badal must be performed by the appointed person only if he or she has been authorized to get it done by that person. In this case he/she can send someone else in his/her place.
The appointed person who performs Hajj Badal should perform the type of Hajj according to the desire of the person who sent them (Hajj Al-Tamattu, Hajj Al-Qiran).
The appointed person should not miss any imperative (Fard) part of the Hajj as no type of compensation can render Hajj Badal.

Umrah Badal must be performed by the appointed person only if he or she has been authorized to get it done by that person. In this case he/she can send someone else in his/her place.

What proof will you provide for 'Hajj Badal / Badal Hajj?

We are working hard to provide small video clips of the person performing Hajj on behalf of your loved ones. We are committed to striving hard to be able to provide video as proof of completion of Hajj. We will do our best to organize this but no guarantee. Sometimes images/videos of some of the hajj are not received due to logistical challenges.

Can I give the gift of 'Umrah to someone who performed 'Umrah by themselves?

In sha Allah, Umrah Badal can be performed on behalf of deceased or terminally ill Muslims whether they performed ‘Umrah or ‘Hajj by themselves or not.

How do I know that Umrah Badal is completed?

‘Umrah Badals are generally completed within 1 week of receiving the request. You can contact us to confirm if it has been completed or not. We currently do not mail any certificates for this. However, should you wish, we are able to issue electronic certificates confirming that ‘Umrah Badal has been completed.

What's the booking process?

Booking process in steps:

Choose either the ‘Hajj or ‘Umrah Badal to be performed by qualified students of knowledge. A person can do this through our website, advertised phone numbers, partner organizations, and promoters in various countries.
Make payment (online, bank deposit, cheque, etc.)
Receive confirmation of the payment.
Hajj/Umrah arrangement made by Hajj by Us to fulfill the request of the customer. The process is overseen by an Imam.
Receive a certification of completion by mail after the Hajj is performed. No certificates are mailed out for ‘Umrah Badal.

How do I know that Hajj Badal is completed?

After the Hajj is completed, we will then send you a certificate by mail with the name of the person who performed the Hajj Badal and a certified stamp. This is to give you written proof and assurance that the Hajj Badal has been successfully completed. Typically, this is sent out within one month of completion of ‘Hajj. You don’t need to contact us to receive this certificate. It is issued to everyone and mailed out through regular mails from Toronto, Canada.

How do I know that Umrah Badal is completed?

‘Umrah Badals are generally completed within 1 week of receiving the request. We will send a small video clip of the person performing Umrah stating the name of the individual on whose behalf Umrah is completed.

‍We currently do not mail any certificates for this. However, should you wish, we are able to issue electronic certificates confirming that ‘Umrah Badal has been completed.

Can I get the contact details of the person who will perform 'Hajj / 'Umrah?

Regular Hajj Badal option: We are unable to provide any contact details.

Our policy is to not provide any name, phone, e-mail, or physical address of students performing ‘hajj / ‘umrah. Please understand that they are busy with their studies and have family obligations like all of us. In the past, we have had some bad experiences where some people kept badgering students for an extended period of time. To avoid giving rise to unfortunate circumstances, we have decided to not to share information. Names of the students performing ‘Hajj Badal will be mentioned in the certificates issued. Also, students are selected/finalized for ‘Hajj Badal post-Ramadan. We start assigning ‘hajj badals 1 month before ‘Hajj so it is not possible for us to share specific details.

We take this responsibility seriously and do our utmost to ensure that students have the right intentions, qualifications, and information to execute this heavy burden. This is a serious matter as it relates to the aakhirah (hereafter) and Taqwa of Allah is essential. For this reason, we have an Imam who individually interviews each student prior to appointing/allocating them for ‘Hajj Badal. We ourselves, our families, and friends regularly use this service so we share and understand your concern and have taken necessary steps to ensure proper execution of your requests.

Can I send gifts pay extra for the person performing 'hajj / 'umrah?

Can I request hajj or umrah badal to be performed by someone from a specific mazhab (school of thought)?

Yes, you may – although we can’t give you 100% guarantee that we will find someone who meets your requirement. We will try our best to accommodate any reasonable requests made by fellow Muslim brothers and sisters. Currently we are able to fulfill ‘Hajj and Umrah Badal by students from the following schools of thoughts (mazhab): Hanafi, Hanbali, Shafi’ee.

Please do indicate such preference during your Gift Order or send us an email to let us know about your preference.

Please note that often some things are out of our hand. Given the geography of where ‘Hajj is performed, it is often difficult to find a diverse group of people who might qualify to perform ‘Hajj Badal for your loved ones. We have strict requirements for people to qualify for ‘Hajj Badal and ‘Umrah Badal – strong knowledge of the rites of ‘Hajj & Umrah being the top priority. Our goal is to ensure ‘Hajj Badal and ‘Umrah Badal are performed according the tradition of our Prophet (peace be upon him).

Please note that there are no major differences between various Sunni Schools of Thoughts (madhahib) when it comes to rites of ‘Hajj or ‘Umrah. The scholars might have differences in solutions to problems that might arise during ‘Hajj or ‘Umrah but there is no dispute over their tenets or pillars.

Can I get a discount?

We do not provide any discounts. All advertised gift prices are final. Kindly refrain from asking for any discounts as it creates an odd and uncomfortable situation for us. We are not here to make riches from this; if that was our intention, our gift options would have costed much more (like other service providers)! Our gift prices are kept low in order to promote this beautiful gift for those who are gone but not forgotten. Please ask yourself, if you passed away without performing ‘hajj, would you’ve liked your loved ones NOT booking a ‘hajj badal for you just because they didn’t get a discount? Our parents, relatives, and friends have done so much for us. Let’s try to give them the ultimate gift when they need it the most!

Do you do "PRICE MATCH"?

No, we do not match prices of other service providers. For us, it’s not about the “amount”, rather it’s about the value we provide. Every organization providing similar services have slightly different operation and cost model. So prices are expected to vary from service provider to service provider. Of course it would be an honour for us to be able to facilitate this blessed act of worship for you / your family. However, should you choose to go with another service provider – we hope and pray that Allah accepts it from you and reward your loved ones with the ajr of accepted ‘Hajj.

Is the fee in USD?

Yes. Since we give the gift payments in USD, we prefer to collect it in USD as well. If you are paying online, paypal will do the conversion automatically should you be from outside the USA. Can I perform hajj badal or umrah badal on behalf of someone else through your service?

No, unfortunately not. We are unable to send people from outside Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj Badal or Omra Badal on behalf of people from other countries. You can however perform hajj badal or Omra Badal on behalf of your family and friends should you have the means to travel to Makkah yourself.

We have a group of Imams from all across the globe on our advisory board. These Imams ensure that everything is completed in accordance with the quran and sunnah and in the best of manners possible inshaAllah.

We understand that trust is difficult to establish – even between family members, let alone with others. There are conditions without which Hajj Badal might not be accepted:

‘Hajj Badal cannot be performed on behalf of a person if: a) the person is alive, healthy, and has the means to perform ‘Hajj, b) if the person is alive and does not meet the requirements of ‘Hajj (i.e. does not have financial means or sanity) c) the person completed his/her obligatory ‘hajj in their lifetime
The person appointed to perform Hajj Badal must be a sane Muslim and must have completed his/her own obligatory ‘Hajj prior.
Both the person requesting ‘Hajj Badal and the person performing ‘Hajj Badal must have pure intentions; they must do it for Allah alone and not seek any other gains from it.
While entering into Ihram, he should make intention on behalf of the person for whom he/she will perform Hajj Badal.
Hajj Badal must be performed by the appointed person only if he or she has been authorized to get it done by that person. In this case he/she can send someone else in his/her place.
The appointed person who performs Hajj Badal should perform the type of Hajj according to the desire of the person who sent them (Hajj Al-Tamattu, Hajj Al-Qiran).
The appointed person should not miss any imperative (Fard) part of the Hajj as no type of compensation can render Hajj Badal.
